Hey guys / Girls

My previous thread here was my first attempt at shooting skateboarders with a Canon 450D and the 18-55mm lens..

I went back for a second attempt but this time with my Canon 50D (but with same lens)..

I tried to work on better angles and shotting from low low down..

C & C welcome..

I really like these, although they could do with a little bit of fill.

That 1st shot is a nice twist on the usual 'foot on deck' shot, makes it stand out from the rest. ;)

I'm no lighting expert. Not saying you need to get a couple of Strobes out or anything, but i imagine that would be pretty much ideal. Just saying you could do with eliminating the shadows on their faces. You'd probably even have a certain amount of success with your built in flash, but i was thinking a more dedicated flash unit. ;)

this new set is MUCH MUCH MUCH better. hopefully you noticed how much better the angle makes the photo look. The first thread, it just looked like you stoop there and took the picture. These look like you actually got into what you were doing, and it shows BIG TIME.

I really like the first shot in the second set, the close position works really well in this location I think. Plus the timing is better I think, seems that hes doing a hard flip and its really at the "peak of the pop", the second picture seeems to be a kick flip but the board is too close to the body so in my opinion it doesn't work so well.
It could just be my screen but there also seems to be some vignetting caused by the lens perhaps ... Im not sure but the edges certainly seem to be darker than the rest of the shot. I still really like the shots though, even more fill lighting wouldn't hurt though :P

VERY nice series indeed. I agree with Scott that some strobes would make these amazing but I'd be quit pleased with what you have. Nice work.
