Not all rechargeables are the same.

I will never buy non slow-discharge rechargeables again. Eneloops and the like are SO much better.

it all depends what you need them for...

if you are using rechargeable batteries for flash that you aren't using every day and don't need fast recycling time - Eneloops are the way to go...

I didn't research the batteries you linked to, but they look like a very good price if you need that many batteries.

If anyone lives near (and shops at) a Safeway grocery store, they are running a nice promotion right now. They're selling the Duracell low-discharge 2000mAh 4-packs for $10/each (normally ~$17). From what I gather reading the battery review guru on Amazon (here (external link) and here (external link)), the Duracells I bought with a white top and made in Japan are rebadged Eneloops. Durcaells made is China are probably lower quality Rayovacs.

Safeway is also running a promotion in which buying $30 of qualifying items gets you a $10 coupon on your next purchase (of $10 or more). There are over 3,000 qualifying items. I shop at Safeway every week, so it's a good deal for me.

Here's a couple scenarios for those who are interested:
(my scenario)
3 - 4packs = $29.97
1 can of black beans = $1.25 (because you need to spend over $30)
Total: $31.22 - $10 on next visit = $21.22
$7.07/pack or $1.77/battery + 1 can black beans :)

(another scenario, for those who don't shop at Safeway)
3 X Durcell 4packs = $29.97
1 X can of black beans = $1.25 (because you need to spend over $30)
Subtotal: $31.22 - $10 on next visit
Walk back to the batteries and get some bulk item for a couple cents to get to $10.
Total: $31.22 = $7.81/4pack or $1.95/battery + 1 can black beans/whatever

Hmm...I might have to buy these to try out. Not that many, but maybe the 24 pack.

What useful info you can get from reading this magazine? I hate to collect the junk just for the low price and then have to throw them away. Think about protecting the environment.:)

Thanks OP for the info tho.

Edit: Sorry I posted to the wrong thread. I swear I was not drunk. Mistake happens.
