Crops from DPP, zero PP. I thought these were pretty good for 2 TCs stacked?

I was just processing a moon shot from last night. Mines a 100% crop from a 250mm image shot with the 55-250 IS.

Thought it would be fun to compare.

Please tell me you weren't doing a DoF comparison between f/8 and f/11. ;)

Nice work.

Purely an excercise in IQ, is it better stopped down or not? I personally thought the difference was minimal.

Amazing contrast. The F11 one looks a tiny bit sharper, but the contrast in the F8 one appears better in the 'moon edges'.

I actually like moon images from around 1/4 to a little short of full. There's a lot of detail along the surface that really shows up when the sun's light hits the moon from the side rather than nearly straight on. Of course, any moon image is fine with me!

Nice shot, Neilyb.

Looks like you and I shot it on the same night, although I didn't make any effort to straighten it up. 50% crop, 400/2.8, 1.4X, and 2X teleconverters.
