Hello everyone,

I have a trip to the Chinese F1 GP coming up. I haven't really visited any kind of racing event before, so you can probably guess how excited I am :D.

We will be either at the Grandstands at start/finish or at the stands at turn 1/2. I was wondering if 280mm (70-200mm F4L IS + 1.4x TC) would be enough from the grandstands? I will be using my 50D.

Futhermore, I'm thinking of shooting pics Friday, and concentrate on watching the qualifying / race on Saturday / Sunday. Would you recommend staying at the Grand Stands or take a walk to the Grass Stands (N, F and J below):

Reason I'm asking is about the fences, not sure whether or not this would be a problem with a 280mm? Not really sure what the distance is to the fence.

Any more advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated :D.

I've been to Shanghai, but working. I don't think it is an ideal track to shoot from the stands unfortunately, it's a big place!

btw, ur FOV will be 480mm since ur 50d has a crop factor of 1.6 along with the 1.4 TC. i think youll have enough reach
