1DMKIII will not talk to my laptop

I need to change the "User Name" on my Canon 1DMKIII the camera will not communicate with my laptop. I have installed and removed the EOS Digital Solution Disk (Ver. 16.1) a few times with n change.

Please help.

Seriously though, you need to connect it with firewire. USB doesn't work for stuff like that. Stupid? Yes. Reason? Unknown.

Did they change that with the Mark III? My Mark II won't let me change anything without firewire. I can download pics but that's about it. Who does that anyway? :D

Nevermind. I assumed the Mark III had firewire too. Apparently Canon ditched it after the IIN. I should have kept my mouth shut.

This might be a trivial point, but make sure your camera is on. USB works fine on my 1D Mark III. What operating system are you using?
