FWIW I got three 8GB 133x Lexar cards for free from Adorama when they had the last rebates. $80 per card with $80 rebate per card. Got the checks (not Visa cards) with no problems. I really had no need for that many memory cards, but can't pass up a free deal like that! :)

What you get is a Visa stored value card that contains the appropriate rebate amount. As the Sandisk rebate form fine print says, the Visa card offers "no cash access." You can use it to buy things

BLAST IT!!! I really wanted the cash so I could buy things.. :( :( :(
LOL that was pretty funny.

I did two different rebates last year for Sandisk cards. First one, I got the check after maybe 6-8 weeks, with no problems at all. The second time, I got the Visa gift card in maybe a month without a hitch either.

Thanks CronoDL, that is more reassuring.

just make sure to keep copies of your paperwork. if the amount is say $40 i don't pursue it if they screw me, which they've done in the past.

You should also be aware that the rebates only apply when you buy the card at specific stores.

Whether you can buy something with it and then return it for a cash refund, I don't know.

Can't. I used a $70 card toward an $80 purchase (exhausting the card) and the cashier told me to be sure to hang on to the empty card in case I wanted to return the item because the refund would go back on the card.

I haven't had a problem with any of my SanDisk rebates and I must have collected over $500 in the various offers, between direct check, check payable to the place I bought the cards and VISA cards. I'm currently using up the last $60 rebate I got from them.

with the 5d II the extreme IIIs will be slower. with my 1ds mark III it takes a lot longer for the image to appear on the LCD.

i'm slowly moving to extreme IV (already have 24 gigs) and i'm able to recoup a fair amount of money on my extreme IIIs because i bought them all with rebates.

Would anyone be interested in doing this for me? I wuld happily pay through paypal + the cost for shipping to the UK. Im specifically interested in the 3pk 4GB Ext3 on the Adorama website for $44.95 after rebate (In fact i would like 2 sets). It sucks that we dont get the rebates over here. (I should have probably made it clear im not interested because i want to sell them on or anything like that, im moving to Kenya shortly & need more memory but its very expensive over here.)

Cheers
Rowan

I bought a bunch of the Extreme III 8 GB cards a few months back...never had any hassles with the rebate process. Matter of fact, the Sandisk Visa card is sitting right in front of me on the desk.
