How can I make these better on Elements?

I am a bit of a noob, and I am not really good at pp. I have PS Elements 5, but I am having a hard time getting these look better?

White balance for one.

If you're shooting RAW, I believe these need some white balance help. I'd start there. Perhaps Google for "white balance RAW". If you're not shooting RAW the adjustment will be a little more complicated and I'm afraid I won't be able to help.

I don't have PSE, but think you need to start before editing by getting the WB right by setting a Custom one in that situation because AWB isn't very good indoors. Notice that the very last exposure in the 2nd group of tests was of a gray card, & it's way off.
