Hi There, I had some time today during my lunch break to take a walk in our city's river valley.
I know it is a bit blurry, but I forgot my tripod and could only do this hand held.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

I really like it overall, my only complaint would be that lighting. For some reason it just doesnt suit me, maybe its just me though. Lastly, is the boat stuck in the frozen waters?

The riverboat stays there all through the winter. So yeah, you could say it is stuck there! ;)

Thanks.

Colors are kind of flat, boat (among other things) is soft, composition could be a little better.

ISO400 was probably a bit too much for that shot (esp if you had to shoot @ 1/2000).

yeah, boring colors and consider stopping down your lens to give a greater depth of field or improve sharpness

Why should you need a tripod (and why should it be blurry) if you're shooting at 1/2000th sec?

Not very interesting.

If you hadn't said what it was would be hard to tell what kind of boat it was and what it's doing there.

The bridge support runs smack down into the top of the boat giving the appearance that they're connected.

Thanks everyone for your comments. As someone who is just starting out with using the camera, I will take all these comments and use it to better my skills with photography. Also, because I am new, what does stopping down the lens mean?

Using a smaller aperture.

i look at the boat, my eyes follow the bridge support upwards, then my eyes travel left along the bridge to the red roofed building.

my eyes ALWAYS rest on the red roof.

a different angle might make one focus more on the main subject.
