Well i have been looking through this site to help in getting a new camera and what sort so i started looking at getting a 1d mkIII as the title suggests and i came accross a store that had one for AU$2999 shoppingsafari.com.au so i bought it. then i read a few posts about it where they stiffed a few people on their purchases. well that was on sunday so plenty of time to think i did the wrong thing so after a few phone calls and a confirmation of adddress i got the con note and the 1D is on the way. The other good thing was that it is through paypal so there was nothing to really worry about as they have the purchace protection.
Anyway i'll let you all know how it went in the next few days once it arrives. hopefully it gets here before the long weekend.

Well it turned up today, its an import but hey for just a lick over half price i wont complain, all parts and accessories were included the box and all parts look immaculate. i believe it may have been from japan one as thats what language the manual is in. just having a flick through now, wow what a step up from the 40D.
Look out Bells here i come.

Good on ya mate!
I live here in Japan. None are "imports" and although I buy from B&H and some things here, there really is no difference as the products are identical once out of the box. Only the warranty may be worded differently? And, I think you can download or otherwise obtain an English language manual? What about the CDRom?
Cheers,
John

If it has been imported, for example, to Australia via a non-approved Canon network then there will be no warranty supplied by Canon in Australia. If there are problems, it will have to be shipped back to where it came from and they will have to get it repaired.

In saying that, I, too, have an import 1D3 and it has worked beautifully (so far ;) )
