A few images from a superb event, hell of a contrast to the Bulldog Rally the week before ....

Those are FANTASTIC! The shot in the sunglasses I love! Seen it done in Cyprus in concave mirrors and have always liked this kind of shot. Best rally set I have seen EVER!

Cheers Jim. I comitted the cardinal sin of changing lenses mid stage ... on numerous occasions! Suprisingly the sensors dont seem to bad.

No. 6 was taken with a 15mm Fisheye on the 1DMKIII ... I thought I had the 5DMKII with me and only realised my error when I'd walked up what seemed like a thousand steps. I didnt have the energy to go back down to fetch it! The shot would have been seriously wide on the 5D as well

Jay,

These images display your usual skill of providing something a little different from the event. However, I feel that these show a little too much of the atmosphere of the event, and not enough of the event itself if that makes sense. The images provide a lot of context for where the rally took place and under what conditions, but personally I would have preferred to see some head on or 3/4 shots of the cars with the huge dust clouds behind them, rather than some of the shots you've posted here.

As always, this is just my personal opinion. All credit to you for shooting the event in the way you have / do.

Cheers,

Simon.

Jay, I find myself agreeing with Simon above here. Although the set is superb and shows the 'other side' of an event with some scenic stuff thrown in, I think it lacks a bit of action which was clearly evident from the TV footage.

Just my humble opinion of course!

Rhod.

Sorry but I've got to agree with the above also Jay.

Whilst I appreciate what you are doing and the work is excellent, there isn't enough action for me

I was looking forward to some head on, three quarter shots and some big dust trails

As we always say, photography is subjective and everyone has their own likes and dislikes

No need to be sorry chaps, three quarter shots dont do anything for me personally ... like you say 'each to their own'. Thanks for the C&C :)

Well on this occasion I disagree with my learned freinds, because I think we see enough head on and three quarter shots ,and god knows I have posted plenty, and it is refreshing to see totally differant shots here.
11,is a terrific shot, one I would never have thought of ,looks like a scene from a disaster area.
10,Is a great crop ,something I am not much good at,works really well in BW.
9,shows the terrain and backdrop really well.
8,great dust trails behind car going miles ,almost.
6,good use of wide lens.
4, Excellent ,and differant, though would like to see more of car really.
2,very clever shot ,works well.

Yes it would have been good to see the odd real sharp head on crest shot ,with crowd at side, maybe more dust trails, but suspect and haven't looked yet they may be on website, but either way a terrific set and great event.

Top work,
Pons

I love them. I think they cover the atmosphere of the rally brilliantly, and they make a lovely change from the usual action shots (although I love seeing those shots too!). It's take a bit of creative vision and a good understanding of the sport to take shots like that. They are different, yet very interesting. Well done.
