Not a straight trade, extra money will be involved of course. I just got a second MKII for backup and now thinking if I should sell them both and get a 1DMKIII.

From what I've read, beside the obvious benefits of MKIII, AF is a toss up. But the benifit of higher ISO is really tempting.

Hmmm or sell one and get a used 5D

I've got a 5D and a 1DMKII and find the combo great, no regrets here!

Thanks, that's the idea I'm tempting with too. :)

If you need a backup then I would say no. The 5D is a great idea.
Otherwise, yeah, the MKIII is a great camera.

I went from a 1D IIN to a 1D mark III. No regrets at all. Although the 1D IIN was excellent, I find the user interface on the mark III to be much more intuitive, the high ISO performance to be far better and 14 bits somehow gives a much more pleasing image.

I'd go for it every time.

Thanks guys, I'll keep an eye out for a 5D :)

So mean while, you two (nicksan and Bill) stop posting images from your 1D MK III :D

I hate this upgrading bugs.

Anyone want to trade? I can throw in a Gitzo 1150T (same as 1550T) tripod or a 85 1.8 :)

Absolutely not. I'd have the hassle of turning around and selling the 1D III and finding two more 1D IIs. :D

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

Hmmm. I think I would do it. The 1DIII is pretty frickin' awesome. I like it way better than my old 1DIIN.

1DII + 5D > one 1DIII.

But 1DIII + 5D > any number of 1DIIs.

Haha.. thanks Mike and Perry, not making it any easier :)

I shot with the MK III a few weeks ago and really like its light weight and jpeg quality (when I shoot sports, I use Jpegs). I shouldn't have tested out that camera. Really shouldn't. :)

Hahaha, having played with a 1D III, I have to say I'd agree. If I ended up with a 1D III I'd end up looking to trade it for two 1D IIs. I don't care if the interface is a bit clunky, I love everything about the 1D II. :)

I would go for the 5D. Crop + FF = awesome. Just my 2 cents. :D

Heheh...I don't mind the interface either and I think it's fine. I can change stuffs without looking at it now :)

The group of guys I'm hanging out with together have 1DsII, 1DMKIII, 5D, 5DII, 1DMKII, Nikon D300, Nikon D700, 40D, 50D and even one guy even have a 1DMKIII and a 800mm 5.6 IS too :D One of the Nikon guy just bought a 600 f4 too so I'll have a chance to check it out soon. :D

I tried them all and honestly I think the image quality of the MK III is really up there. The D700 is really nice but I like what I've seen from the MKIII alot.

The 1DsII has a different look though, still very nice.

I like the MKII very much and I think it's still an excellent camera. Just 2 years ago, it WAS the camera for sports and actions.
Couple the MKIII and the 800 and man, it was pure fun!!!

Agreed... they don't both come in one camera but with the 5D you would still get that improved high ISO performance, and a smaller/lighter body when you want it.

It still is one of the top cameras for sports and such, the 1D3 just has superseded it. I see tons of photogs every time I shoot a game that are using 1D2s. :)

I even saw a Nikon D200 today at an NBA game!
