I Just purchased my first digital cannon. last week I bought the G6 after reading such good reviews. I took this camera on its maiden voyage this past weekend to the zoo to try it out. All I got was memory card errors and corrupt data errors. It wouldnt let me format the card. or delete the pics. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. The memory card I was using is a Sandisk 1.0 GB.. I formatted it before going to the zoo it just started acting funny after the first couple of pictures!

When you say "or delete the pics" do you mean that the pics are viewable from the camera?. If this is the case and you get card errors or corrpt data when trying to access or delete images via zoom browser on your computer it might be a usb driver issue.

More information needed.

ARe pictures saved on card viewable on camera?
Can you continue taking photos on the card ?
Have you protected any photos ? (from erasure - its a camera feature)
What was the original source of the 1.gb card? retail or resale (ebay)?

My suspicions are that if its not accessible from both your camera or computer then it must be a dud and you might need to return it for replacement or cash back.

Too little information to ascertain the real problem here.

A card failed on me too, after a couple of years use. Images were not retrievable or viewable in the camera and through the card reader the 'drive' wasn't recognised. Formatting was not possible. I shipped it back overseas to the supplier who promptly sent me a replacement. Sounds as though you should return it as Nabil-A suggests.

The card was purchased new at Circuit City. I can view some of the pics on the camera as real small icons with an corrupt data message under it. then others cant be viewed, all you can see is the cf error message. When I tried to view them on the computer all I got was red x's. Once this happened the camera didn't function anymore... I hope this helps in the diagnoses... so far I'm still having to use my old Olympus >8-(. Could it just be a bad card? I just tried to use the small 32 mb card that came with it, and it seems to work... once again, thanks for any and all help!

Not that I'm any sort of expert, but in the process of trying to recover my photos, I came across special software that is supposed to do just that. My card was too far gone, but it might be worth a try. Email me and I'll send you the zip file or link. I'm off out right now, but can email you later.

looking at the camera again I can see a small icon like picture with memory card error written under it. I have tried to reformat the card and it deletes everything except these few pics. I tried to manually delete them and they wont delete....
Any suggestions or should I get a new card ?
