Snow:

actually that is a currency conversion fee. And yup, they are making a profit on that too. I keep a euro balance in my PP account, not much but a just in case fund to avoid the same fee with PP.

More and more CC's are charging the fee to increase revenue. Just like when they decide to just raise a person's interest rate for no valid reason other than it is in their TOS and the company is based in a state w/o usury laws on the books, you know like South Dakota and Delaware.

As mentioned before, never fund from a bank account, always through a credit card. I bought a car part once on ebay, and the seller sent the wrong item - and refused to answer any of my emails.

Since I paid through the credit card, I was able to do a chargeback and got my money back. (After filing annoying paperwork with the CC company, admittedly.) However, that beats dealing with PayPal's rediculous conflict resolution center.

PayPal will screw you over if you have a problem, use a CC, end of story.

I use credit card which earns 2% back on purchase. eBay also gives me back 2%. then Microsoft Live.com gives me another 10%+ cash back. So I have 14%+ cash back on any purchase off ebay. Not bad.:D
