craig - Shot #1 was 120th. Panning I judge how fast the bikes/cars are going. Usually take a few sequence high speed shots at different speeds varying between 50th-200th of a sec. Start shooting early and let her rip till a few past the shot/angle you are wanting. usually the shots in between are good and the first couple and last couple are off. Hope this helps some.
