So most of my posts are in the children or weddings section, this is my first landscape post. And one of my first scenic vacations since getting into photography, and it just happened to be Antelope Canyon. I heard a lot of great things before going here, and it certainly did not dissapoint. My only concern now is that there's no where to go but down in terms of great locations! :)

Enough blabbering... I did a couple HDR edits of some of the shots I took last week that I thought I'd share and get some critique from you landscape pros out there. You know who you are.

It is beautiful and it also looks fake. A couple of really strange looking areas... the top left corner and in the little "tunnel" on the lower right ? Some paranormal stuff going on ..lol

Looks like you did a long exposure with a ND filter on, thus producing the ghosts (i.e. people walking through the shot). I can't justify what happened to the rock in the upper left though.

I like it a lot. Lots of texture, lots of interesting color, and, of course, the light beam is cool.

Keep up the good work.

John

The upper left corner is actually a second beam of light that I caught a piece of. In the non-websaved version I darkened the corner out so you couldn't see it, but it just looks weird in this version :(

Thanks John.

I did a long exposer at f11 or 14, no filters. I'm pretty sure no one was walking back there in the "cave", I'm thinking the weirdness happened in Photomatix converting to HDR. I may try to PS some of that out. Also noticed some weird green on the rock bottom left I'll try to correct.

WTH? That pic looks supernatural. Do you remember the scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark when the light beam marker the Ark's location?

Rather than darkening to cover up the problems, did you try cloning? Might not be too hard with the rocks.

And by the way, the shot is spectacular regardless!

LOL... one of my friends congratulated me on finding the Ark. I have edited it like I mentioned I would, I'll try to post the updated version tonight.

Nice shots but a little bit overdone, especially the light beam...

Wow, I think this looks really good too. There is a little bit too much light on the rocks in the background, but it still is great.

Keep up the good work.

Nice shots Gator!

Not so sure that I'm sold on the "HDR" got one with out HDR you can share?

Regardless they are nice shots. Hope you and your family had an enjoyable and resting vacation. Me and my family are heading to Charleston SC in a couple of weeks and can't wait for some r&r and a little photography ;o)
