I have a blog dedicated to Photoshop video tutorials (primarily geared towards photo enhancing and post processing), and am trying to decide what to write about next. Here are a few of my ideas:

  • Using the liquify filter (to help slim down parts of the body, reshape jaw line, etc)
  • RAW workflow tips & tricks
  • An overview of the different layer blending modes
  • Making accurate selections
  • Content Aware Scaling in CS4
I'm always trying to make helpful posts, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

is it possible to make things more 3D in photoshop like make a picture flat and add pictures on either side of it to make like a box.. and have text spin around it or is this something you need to do in a 3D animation program?

Also a tut on things like making a custom preset to be able to edit like 20 images at once would be cool all most like a batch edit?

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video must be priceless...

From your list, in order of importance, I'd say (for my type of photography):

RAW
Selections
Layer blending and other methods for working with layers

Those three are pretty fundamental for people learning Photoshop, although for those shooting with jpegs, there are some differences, but much of the workflow now overlaps (jpegs can get RAW-type adjustments in ACR and Lightroom)

I know it's possible to make animated GIFs in Photoshop quite easily, but it sounds like you want the text to spin very fluidly around an image (or something similar to that). For something like that, it'd probably be easier to make something like that in a 3d animation program, but I'm not sure. I'll see if I can find anything.

Yeah, that's actually pretty simple to do. I'll sometimes do that when I do studio shoots since I'll apply the same basic edits to a large group of pics, then tweak them to my liking. I'll see what I can come up with.

Although, I've started using Adobe Lightroom, which is made to do that kind of work. You just make all your adjustments to the RAW file (or JPEG if you shoot that), and then with one click, synchronize all those edits to as many other pics. You can then bring individual photos into Photoshop from LR to make any final edits (i.e. watermark, borders, custom actions, etc).

Thanks for the suggestions!

Sounds good. I was thinking that those would be pretty high on people's list, but I also like researching and learning about the smaller, less-known tools too.

I'll see what I can come up with. Thanks again for the suggestion!

Sure, all the help you can give people will pay off, but if you want to include the stuff everyone needs, well, that's what I was suggesting.

Have a good time!

I understand the need to have tutorials on stuff that everyone needs (i.e. RAW workflow, etc), but I figure that a lot of people have already done stuff like that (so I may be just saying the same things again). I like to mix my tutorials up so I have some good general knowledge, along with some information about the lesser-known features. I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind.

Haha, that's something I'm into myself. Be prepared for tutorials on skin smoothing, perfecting hair, facial shaping, etc. in the near future.

Good call. I always try to find videos where the author takes special care to make sure their edits are not over-the-top. That's something I've struggled with as I learn Photoshop, and I know many others do too. Just because you CAN make an adjustment, doesn't always mean you NEED to. :)

Thanks for all of your helpful input, and I'll try to get some new tutorials up soon. Anyone else?
