While the G9 and G10 are good quality prosumer level digicams, they are a tad big just to slide in your pocket and walk out the door with. But, at the same time, I'm curious if Canon makes a good P&S I can slip into my pocket that has more manual settings and features than it's SD (Digital Elph) line but isn't very bulky at all.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Right now, the SD990, A590 and various SX models are the only non-G PowerShot models to offer Tv, Av or M control.

Also Raw format, Flash hot-shoe, and the ergonomics that is similar to pro cameras are things not found in all Canon P&S cameras. About performance, battery usage, build quality, etc... may be G cameras are better, I don't know.

What do you think then, is the best P&S camera, even if a different make?

I think the best between the SD and the G is the A570 again. The least price, the full set of features, except if you want a tilt screen, a long zoom, or a wider angle (This one is 36-140mm eqv.).
