If you have the money get 17-55 2.8 or 24 1.4L

the 100mm macro can be used for every day use...the only problem is i think you'd like for it to zoom...which it can't...it's set at that focal length

stating what your budget is will help people suggest lenses for you...

but whats wrong with using your 18-55 for everyday use?

To AGC1019, I already have the Canon 100mm 2.8 macro. I am wondering if there is a lens out there that would do the same job as the 100mm 2.8 and also "every day" use all purpose lens so I didn't have to change lenses so much. Is there much difference between the 17-55 and the 18-55?

So you like the 100mm focal length, thus want a zoom that covers that and also wider like down by the 18-55 range?

17-55 is very similar to 18-55 as far as zoom, in fact almost the same. The difference is that the EF-S 17-55 is a faster lens with a f2.8 aperture and has sharper image quality. It is also around $1000 though.

Your best bet is going to be to get a larger zoom if you like the 100mm range but also want something wider. Giving a budget would help a lot as truly there are many suggestions all over the board.
