Hi!

This is my first try shooting American Football Game. Shot with Canon 400D and Canon EFS 55-250 IS lens.

I would like to hear some tips and C&C.
Robert

Good job on catching/stopping the action, nice exposure...can't say anything negative about these.

I didn't know there was a league in Poland! Awesome!

Hi!

Thanks for Your comment :)

American Football is not very popular in Poland - currently we have 19 teams in our league, both the league and the audience are growing :)

Cheers,
Robert

The first season the community college here had football, the kicker was a big dude between 280-300 lbs.. a linebacker of course.

Nice shots!

The 55-250 definitely has better quality than the old 75-300 that I got with my 400D.

I didn't own any other telephoto lens before, so it is hard to compare it with other ones. It would be very cool lens for me, if there would be an USM... now I can say it is just fine, but in low light conditions the AF sometimes is way to slow for sports (or other fast moving objects).

I'm considering to upgrade to 200mm f2.8 prime now... but have no idea if I would like prime for sports (I do like to use primes only for portraits now...).

Cheers,
Robert

I had the 75-300 and went straight to the 70-200. They are world's apart in every single way. Although I still have a 400D, the USM AF is much better than whatever the 75-300 had.

I also considered the 200/2.8 prime but that was the reason why I didn't get it either. If I'm going to get a prime for sports, it'll be a 300 or 400 and then I'll have the 70-200 on another body (not that I can see myself having another body any time soon).
