I just happened to look out of the window and caught sight of the local pond pest perched on my neighbours garage roof, ready to swoop down on my goldfish again.:mad:

I managed to slowly open the back door and grab a couple of shots just before it saw me & flew off to try its luck a few doors up the road.

Taken with 100 -400 @ about 25feet away.

Around here most people have to put nets over their ponds to keep the Heron's out!!

I have to get round to putting new netting up, but it's a pain when the marginals start growing through it and tearing it.
I think this fella has had most of my goldfish now, and been lucky so far with my 'black' rudd as he hasn't scoffed them yet.
He is so brazen in his attitude, but so quick to fly off if he sees me - so this was a real lucky shot.
I guess having an historic Heronry less than a mile from home is something to put up with.

Where is the heronry then I'd like to pay a visit to see what I can get.

Unfortunately arty', it's in private woodland and the owners won't let the public in - great pity as I'd love to take some photos in the woods as well.
