Shot some Rugby for the first time on Saturday. Would like some C&C on the images. Not so much on composition (I know that needs work) but everything else. Im not liking the PP on them but they look really dull in the orignal.

Looking at the grass on both shots I'd say that you've underexposed tham by at least half a stop. Possibly the meter's been fooled by the reflection from both the yellow and white strips. If shooting in AV mode then compensate by half a stop, or better still in this light shoot in manual and take a reading from a it of the grass.
Light's looking a bit harsh. I try to get tight in compositions when the light's harsh, you don't want heaps of arms and legs casting dark shadows everywhere so get in tight and concentrate on hands and faces. Looser wide shots should nearly always be done when light has become flatter.

Try shooting in 'portrait' orientation too, 'landscape' tends to cut legs and feet off too much.
