From where you are sitting, you could make a great picture. If I was shooting from that position I would have cropped as tight as I can, but framed the batter to the left so I could fit the catcher and the ump into the image, kinda like I did with my lead off shot. Time your shutter release so that as soon as the batter explodes on the ball your shutter opens. That would make for a great picture, especially with that down ward angle that us photojournalists can only get by going up to the Toyota Terrace and shooting from the camera wells that are just aft of 3rd and 1st base. The 70-200 2.8 is worth every penny and is one of my favorite lenses to use. If you can't afford the 70-200 2.8, Sigma makes a 70-200 2.8 that sells for around $750 if I am not mistaken or you could always go with the older 80-200 2.8 Canon lens. Best of luck to you bud.
