Two support acts in the main hall (capacity 700) of Atak.

Way better lighting possible here, and occasionally used better as well. Split this up into seperate threads.
3 song rule, no flash obviously. No barriers...

All images here (external link).

1) Keep of Kalessin: Too much smoke.

2) Didn't note the reflection while shooting. Pity. Otherwise I might have timed better and got a good headbangin' motion *and* a good reflection:

6) Legion of the Damned. Cousin It. Was a bit late here, since the both halls had an overlap in the schedule, so not that many shots.

In hindsight, I barely have enough images of the second band. The fact that the camera decided to be unreliable in the AF department didn't exactly help either.
This gig made me trade the 1D2 (which was "repaired" according to the Canon repair center a week before, twice) for a Mk3...

Two more bands in the last thread. C&C welcome.

Very nice set Rene - #s 2 and 5 are the ones that really caught my eye and I want the shirt the guy in #8 is wearing!

Once again, very nice set. That 1dMK2 is going nowhere. Like mine 30D which i think has problem with AF.

These are all great! I might of framed 7 differently, and it looks a little noisy but that's all I can say! 4 and 5 are my favorites.

I love the smiling bass player, I got a chuckle from that.

I like #2 for the energy.

The tones/colors are too "good" for metal music. More noise, lots of more contrast, perhaps some drops of sweat or beer on the front element of the lens would support the subject matter.

No pit.
If I'm late, I have a problem ;)
Luckily quite a lot of people know me, and I wear a "Crew" shirt, so most people let you through. Alternative is to use a long lens & shoot more "safe" images over the crowd.
If I'm on time, I pick my spot and (try to) stick to it. Can be kinda hard if there's a mosh pit though: I've ended up levitating for a couple of meters on occasion

I like it for the "boy & girl" reflection in the guitar ;)

Hahahaha. Got a point there...

Yeah, I'm sure if we wanted we could continue this forever, you commenting my photos regarding the exessive contrast and the like, and I saying the opposite regarding your photos :p

Just for fun, another version of one of the images.
Still used LR2 only, otherwise I could have added some noise ;)

Might be a bit more to taste.

Ha! the faces in the body () are cool. All of these are great, but I really like No. 2 .. swooping. I'm definitely gonna check out the all images link.
