OM lenses can be used on EOS bodies with a cheap adapter (about $25-30) and I'm not terribly familiar with their line up I believe their 50mm lenses have a pretty good reputation. For $10 a piece I'd probably grab the 35 and 50mm Olys.

I'm taking pictures of everything, so go ahead and take this place away from me.

The only MF lenses I would be willing to mount on my camera are the ones made by CZ (external link). I tried some of the Canon MF lenses and an adapter and to be honest it was not worth it to me.

I havent heard good things about converting Canon FD mounts to EF, which is why I havent tried it on my FD 50mm 1.4.

i use alot of M42 screw lens, they work great,
i have a 500mm, 400mm , 300mm, 200mm, 100mm, 50-1.4, 55mm, 135mm and a 20mm wide angle.
all primes.
cheap adapters, less than 10 bucks.
2x and 3x converters.
got maybe 200 bucks tied up in all these lenses.
they are all manual though, but heck, just to play with they are great.

i do have minolta md and ma lenses.
they are not worth the cost of an adapter which looks like a 2x convertor.
lose a lot of f-stops and the adapter was 40 bucks from a hong kong store.

fd lense require the same adapter and has the same problems.
stick with the m42 lenses.
only i don't see the really good deals anymore on ebay

If you want to check out some MF lenses and don't want to pay Zeiss level prices, go for the old Pentax M42 stuff. You can see a bunch of them in my sig...the Takumar line (the early ones at least) are legendary...they're all built like bomb shelters and have beautifully smooth focus mechanisms. And the SMC Takumar 50mm 1.4 is renowned by some as the sharpest lens ever made (it's pretty damned sharp but I'm not sure I'd go that far). Of course if you don't have a focusing screen in your VF, they can be slightly less than fun to use.

Another legendary lens is the Rokkor 50mm 1.2, but it'll probably cost you at least $300 and is much harder to adapt to an EF mount.

Fuji X100 / Sony NEX-7 / Contax G 45mm f/2 / The ghosts of 3 Canon bodies past / A meagre amount of talent
