Any ideas how to improve the quality? I had to make it low quality to get the photo under 150kb. Certainly a smaller photo, anything else? Canon 20D, 7D +grip

Mike ugly when I'm sober More info | Apr 25, 2009 17:10 | #3050 I host about 90% of the photos I post on here and use Flickr mainly (I pay for a pro account) and sometimes I use Imageshack for the odd shot which is free and quite good. The joy of hosting elsewhere is that you can go above the 150kb limit when posting here (for example, the spider shots above are about 500kb each - exported from Picasa at 1024px 100% quality). www.mikegreenphotography.co.uk

Thanks that was really handy. Does this mean all your images you host will be in the public domain or can you select your own privacy settings? Your images are a lot clearer than mine- I can see the difference. Canon 20D, 7D +grip

They don't look so scary that close ![]() Hey Mark, You could try sharing at only 600x400 pixels. Less size, but higher clarity. Just calculated from my shots, which are average 800x533 = 260kb on average And as it's done by area size, to reduce down to 150kb, at the same Photoshop Save 11 quality, you'd need around 600px length. Or pay for some hosting like I do. I think my site is around US$120 every 2 years, for 100Gb bandwidth and 5Gb space. Though I'm using half the space, and bandwidth is generally between 8-16Gb / month. There's better deals out there now, I just happened to get this around 3 years ago, which auto rolled over last year. Thanks warren, really handy also. I think hosting is the way forward, but I would like to set my own privacy settings. Cheers! Canon 20D, 7D +grip
