Rich,
you have got some really good shots, I bet they happy with them.
It definitely pays to have a second shooter, some of the angles and playing with the DOF while the formal shots were being done worked well.
Out of curiosity did you use flash during the ceremony?

On a different note is Chris on holiday? he hasn't been around for a while.

Most of you folks have probably already called it a night, but i was hoping for some info on places to shoot in London and the UK while out there on holiday. I'll be out there with my wife for about two weeks total and will have a vehicle for about 1 week. We've been before (me only once) and went west (Bath, Stonhenge, Windsor), south to Brighton and a bit around the city, but I'm looking for more ideas. When I went it was around New Years, so it was bloody cold out.

Also, any recommendations for places to go in Scotland, both for general sightseeing and for picture taking? I know it's quite a drive, so it would be a 3 day trip.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Where abouts in the South are you going to be based and for how long?

Around London I would recommend the Eye, St Pauls Cathedral too late to think of any others but I am sure the others will be full of recommendations

On a different note does this picture look alright. The original shot had a cloudy sky so I have changed it and brightened up the plane or does it look manipulated.

^ We're staying with family based in London (WC1N). Looking forward to seeing the Eye again now that I have a 10-22. We just briefly ran by many of the main attractions - Eye, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Shakespeare Theater, Millenium Bridge. Missed the Cathedral and will definitely go there this time.

As for the shot, it looks good to me. Didn't notice any artifacts or signs that it was manipulated.

Good effort with the drops Rob.
I found I needs really narrow apertures(f/20+) to get all the splash in focus.

Great work on the collision, I couldn't manage to capture one of them!

I've finally sorting the wedding photo's and put them all on a website for the bride and groom:

Great set Rich. Still going through them but I'm sure they'll be pleased :)

Mitesh/Neal: Did you guys start a roller derby thread from last weekend? Had a quick look in sports and didn't see one.

Nice one!

It's actually a really light lens...I usually throw it in my bag even if I may not use it as it weighs next to nothing.

You will have do a comarison as I am definitey interested in a 50mm but not sure which one to go for. I do like the idea of a 1.4

From a quick play i would recommend the 1.4 over the 1.8
Faster and allot quieter more accurate focus. Bokeh is sightely better too (less angular).
However it is a bit soft from 1.4 - 1.8. F/2 is pin sharp though from looking at my quick test shots.

The 1.8 is however damned cheap, even lighter and smaller. The 1.8 is also sharp from ~ f2 so the 1.4 is not a massive step forward - but i am happy with the change. The 1.8 will be up for sale v soon and whoever gets it will be very happy.

Why not use a remote shutter release if you can use it with you other hand. All you will need to do is press a button.

If you don't have one I could lend you mine

If canon junkie changes his mind let me know how much you want for it

I tried the remote release - but it doesnt really make any difference to the stabilty - i still have to hold it like that

You could always put the camera on a monopod with a remote shutter half way down the handle.

My boy can only use one hand and uses his IXUS upside down as there are no 'left handed' cameras!
