Hey, I was wondering if anyone is up for a competition style meet?

Elliott and I were discussing this. Have it as a team style shoot out. Few rules

- 1 Body
- 1 Prime lens
- Candid shots only
- Teams are chosen at random via hat picking

The teams are free to roam the city, and split into two parts of the day. First half followed by lunch then after lunch, head off for round two.

Once all shots are in (say allow 3 days for people to process) max of 3/4 per team depending on how many entrants. People who took part are allowed to vote.

How does that sound?

Chris, you could try these guys (external link) too, near Russell Square. I'm going to pop in tomorrow to look at light stands etc..

Cool link, I'd never heard of them. Thanks, mate.

Brilliant idea!! Sounds like a lot of fun, and its great to have an objective when shooting.

Wicked, if a lot of people are up for it, I will try and set a date, possibly learning more towards the end of the month or early next.

Im sure I can lend out a prime or two if needed. :)

I wonder if my 50mm will be enough or do I need to go shopping? ;)

Some excellent shots from the meet. Would have loved to have gone but had to get up early to go to Beaulieu where my club was holding its national day. I got slightly sunburnt...

Had a very quick walk around the museum and tried to get a few snaps but most are crap. Had to shoot at iso400 - which is very much noise country for my camera - and even then most had camera shake.

Whilst I'm here, does anyone want to buy a mini?

Thats the beauty of it, it shouldnt make a difference what you use as long as its a prime. We want to see how everyone gets on with one lens and how they use it. No matter how hard you try, its just a different way of shooting.

Hopefully it should be an interesting one.

Well I have one which can be used for the day unless I end up using it.

The clampy thing?
I spent a long time looking around, and The Flash Centre seems to have a nice kit, although the Interfit Strobies kit is still the cheapest so I might just order one of them.

Mornin all. Not been able to post for bit due to me breaking a bone in my right hand in a stupid DIY accident  :(

Totally buggered things up. Can barely type, use mouse and can't drive - which screws up work. Can't shoot or drink so social life also screwed. Cast comes off in 5 more weeks :(

I know this sounds daft, but are there any 3rd party battery manufacturers/sellers that are more reputable than the rest?

Need to get some more juice for my 5DII, but im not sure if i would prefer to buy one Canon battery for £65, or get two 3rd party batteries for about £30.

I use Hahnel. Not the cheapest 3rd party battery but had not probs and they hold more charge than the originals.
