Don't get hung up on the test chart thingy. ;) I remember you posting your riffs on the other 50s you've shot and I understand your frustration. It will all go away once you get this bad boy out in the wild. Enjoy! :)

I really try not to make a big deal out of the test charts. I have always just checked and if the "focus here" was somewhere around the center of focus I called it good and don't worry about it any more and go out and shoot.

right after we put the tree up...

this isnt a great shot at all (technically speaking)... but it gives you an idea of the bokeh with lights about 6 feet back

After getting 2 of these form B&H and having the same problem with both I almost gave up on this lens but this weekend my local Samy's Camera had a sale and i could not resist. I went down to look at their copy of the 50mm Makro Planar and it was perfect! I was starting to wonder if it was me or my 7d.

Here are a few shots from my first few hours with this wonderful lens:

I just love the bokeh!

This branch broke off the tree in the morning so the wood is still wet:

The transition from in focus to out of focus is so pronounced I can actually eyeball it with the stock screen on the 7D

I understand these are not the most technically beautiful shots but I am more than impressed with this lens in the hour I used it in the park. I am looking forward to really put it through its paces next weekend!!

^Nice dawn shot Jochen.

^Nice series David. I'm digging the rusty snowman shot.
