DIY Ringlight Flash

You have Some Speedlites, it will be cheap and easy..

yea, those photos are done with the use of a ring flash. make one yourself if you're on a budget. =)

Anyone got anything else? This guy did a great job doing a diy but it still doesn't give the quality of the pictures above.

Especially the way the light falls of the black fellas face is amazing...

Some differences between the first examples and the second, the ringlight is much closer to the subject, the subject is further from the background and a background light was used. You can see the ringlight in the subjects eyes, the cast of Fringe, cool show.

There seems to be subtle differences in bkg lighting on all subjects. Is it possible it's because of subject height in relation to a single, stationary bkg light?
