70-200 2.8 IS Clunk?

Curious, those with the 70-200 2.8 IS, when you shake the lens do you hear something clunking inside? I suspect its the IS mechanism but I thought it was odd.

Does this happen to anyone else?

My 85L and 70-200 2.8L IS do the same. It's normal. :)

I guess the IS glass element is quite heavy - compared to 18-55 or 55-250, and moving it makes noise.

Mine also 'clunks'. ;-)a

Good, so i wasn't the only one confused by that...

Ya our university's 70-200mm does that sound too.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Its not soo much a clunk, but theres movement inside when you shake it. Its not a rattle, so I used "clunk" to describe it ;)

well, tried out some 70-200 2.8 IS's at the camera store today, out of 9 copies, all made this sound, so I guess it is normal. Phew!

You actually unpacked 9 lenses and started shaking them ?
I guess people around thought that you hid some money in a lens, then returned it and now trying to find it !

It makes me wonder what people think when you shake a lens.. if you fumble it and drop it then.......
