Took my new 100-400 out to the base today to try my hand at some shots. You can get very close from the observation deck, and on the roadside which goes under the flightpath. The last time I was here was with a 20D and a very poor 75-300. The differences in clarity and focus are incomparable!
I mat need to get back and have another stab at it. I was trying to make it easy on myself by shooting at around 1600- 2000th shutter at around F8, but that required ISO 400. I didn't stop to think of just trying some at ISO 200 and lowering the shutter to get rid of a bit of noise.
Anyway, tell me what you think, good or bad. Here's 2 to get it started
I like shooting here in the afternoon when they approach from over the road, as the sun lights up the underside nicely for those "right underneath" shots. Alas these are from this morning until around 11 am
be careful, you might just get strafed, and if you do, please be sure to post your last shots - or at least leave a note to your family to post them to here
