What would a photo look like without a lens? Why not have a big sensor on the back of a mobile phone with no lens...

No lens?? You would just have a blob of nothing. Even the pinhole of a pinhole camera is a lens of sorts.

OK, stand with your back to the window and hold up a blank white sheet of paper. Tell me about the "image" you see on the paper of the view out of the window.

Brilliant idea. All the aberation in the pictures are caused by the lens imperfections, remove the lens - no abberations.
But evil engineers at Canon, Nikon etc. specifically designed the cameras so it just will not take a pictures unless the lens is attached. I guess it is a purely marketing decision to force the consumer buy lenses !
We should get together and write a petition to foce them to remove that feature !

Set your camera to Manual, take off the lens, and fire off a shot. See what you get.... :rolleyes:

That's why you take the lens off. :lol:
