For some reason when ever I take a picture. It randomly takes two. One with very high light, and one with lower light.
I cannot seem to figure it out

Example

IMAGE: http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k60/A7XdrummerA7X/people%20skating/KyleAirToFakie.jpg

thanks in advance, and I really don't know which to choose from in an editing standpoint

Oh yeah,

Shooting with A rebel Xti with stock lense, both pics unedited

If this is a new type of bracketing I want to know. That is the exact same frame. If I have my bracketing on it takes the photos one after another. This would open up some fast action HDR possibilities.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

Bracketing is a feature on your camera. You can find it as AEB in your menus. It allows you to take the same photo with different exposures. This is most often used to create HDR photographs and includes 3 exposures. Normally one over, under, and properly exposed.

It's not bracketing.
My guess is that you are shooting RAW + JPG and somehow seeing the jpeg preview that is embedded in the RAW as a separate file. This could be some computer set up glitch.

If you enable "Image editing OK" in your POTN user profile, I'll show you my reasoning, such as it is.

There is a selection box in LR that allows for treating RAW + jpg as two different files.

Perhaps this is the root cause?

This is what I am figuring and that the jpeg is being affected by picture styles and that the exposure is better on it because the contrast or something may be boosted a little.

This isn't bracketing. You can see that the two images are from the same shot - they are both framed exactly the same way and the skater is in the exact same position.

My vote goes to Raw+JPEG
