People who have family members who are mentally disabled may understand this. The heck has the world come to?

there are hundreds of offensive expressions that shouldn't be used, you need to get real.

Censorship?
How offensive!
You should have more consideration!

See my earlier post.

Even stating that some things should not be said may be offensive to others, particularly to those where the right to do so is enshrined in law, for example, in the United States of America, where it is guaranteed (albeit not absolutely) by the First Amendment of the Constitution.

The paradox is that by making your statement, you are guilty of exactly the behaviour of which you are complaining, a very difficult position from which to argue that people should modify their behaviour to accord with your own precepts.

That amuses me, so to that extent, I'm kidding, yes.

I'm not saying some things should not be said, im saying they should not be used so loosly as they have enourmous potential to offend. I'm not talking about a persons legal rights, im talking about trying to be decent and considerate, you really need to understand that.

do you believe that a person should go around saying whatever comes to mind with no regard for others and how they will make others feel, even if their law gives them the right to?

and please explain to me, in which way am I "guilty of exactly the behaviour of which you are complaining"

also, I dont want people to modify thier behaviour to suit my precepts, i simply wish people would act like decent human beings and think about what they are saying......these arent "my precepts", they are common sense, some people need to learn that.

Are you suggesting that I am not a decent human being because I refuse to tolerate inconsiderate and offensive statements that people throw around without a single thought as to whether or not they may offend someone?

Zoso, I understand where you're coming from and I too feel that people should be more reserved in their manner. But you can't really make or force people to do anything. They have a right to express themselves in their own manner and who are we to change that for them? Artists go through the same things when the public doesn't see their art as 'popularly accepted'. You can't please everyone, and you shouldn't try to.
