After getting some inspiration from Doug Rosa and Mark Laita's portfolios I had to go on a little shopping trip. I wanted to see if I could find some white reflective table surface for cosmetic and beverage studio shoots. I knew of a material, but I didnt know what it was called so I went to Home Depot and Lowes to see if anyone could help me. I found out the stuff is called acrylic, but neither of them kept any in stock. You have to custom order a whole box and the price was way too rich for my blood. So I did a bit of googling and found this place called alco plastics.

I drove their today and perused their warehouse inventory. They had the white acrylic, but I ended up buying natural high density board. I thought it was a bit glossier than acrylic anddddddd it was cheaper. Here is what I can do with the stuff.

As with most product photography, this is retouched heavily. The cologne has undergone years of abuse which has left scratches all over the chrome and there was lettering on the back side of the bottle that has to be brushed out.

Here are the 3 pics used.

The text at the top are what I changed in each shot and the text everywhere else is what I used in the making of the final shot.

It was a conscious decision to continue the streaks on the chrome down the bottle because the photographers I have been studying seemed to do it. I probably wont do it next time. Im not so sure I like it in this case.
