I have a Samsung T220 LCD display. When running photoshop CS I get a message that says "monitor profile Samsung Natural Color pro 1.0 ICM appears to be defective." I get 2 option to ignore or use profile.
Is there a way to fix this ?

Yep... I and others with similar Samsung models have reported this problem here before. My workaround was to select the standard sRGB profile instead. Another option is to uninstall the monitor and allow Windows to recognize it as a Plug and Play LCD. Both options work fine. You would think that Samsung would have revised that monitor profile by now, but they haven't. Go figure.

You can, but it will continue to nag you and you'll probably find that photos opened in Photoshop will have bad color shifts. Personally, I'd just go into the display settings and under Color Management, remove the Samsung profile and add sRGB Color Space Profile.icm as the default system color profile.

If you Google "Samsung Natural Color Pro 1.0 ICM", you'll find many posts and articles about this issue.

Now, if you use a calibration device like Spyder3 or EyeOne, it will create a calibrated custom profile anyway, that would replace the Samsung profile as your default display profile.

A final thought: In your Photoshop Color Settings, you're not selecting the Samsung monitor profile as your RGB Working Space, are you? Depending on your workflow, you should only select either Adobe RGB (1998) or sRGB IEC61966-2.1.

Nope not selecting the samsung profile, but using Adobe RGB 1998 I think it is.I took one of John Shaws classes and he basically tells you what you really need to set up in Photoshop, and thats one of the first things he tells you.
So what is the best bang for your buck calibration device.I'm without a job right now so any large scale purchases are out of the question.

Have a read in the link from my sig.
Most affordable are spyder 2 and Pantone Huey. But it seems you get what you pay for: The Spyder doesn't always play nice with some monitors.

It might also be possible to rent one.

As for the broader color management: Have a read in the link from my sig ;)

There are a lot of people right now who are selling their equipment in order to just make the next car, mortgage, or college tuition payment. It's a sad thing, but you may be able to find a steal on a calibration device by searching your local Craigslist or newspaper classified ads. I recently got a nearly new Spyder3 for about half price.
