Sometimes it would be a blessing to have a telescope with the minimum focus set to infinity...focusing on stars and stuff can be a pest. So no, it's pretty variable and I should be able to focus on things relatively close. Once it's mounted it'll be easy to aim and shoot too, so I might just give it a try. It's a nice day today so I'll be setting it up in the garden when I get home, and I'll see what happens!

Come on Adrena1in we're all waiting with bated breath to see a bird shot

What can I do about these blighters, they upended a feeder onto the lawn the other day, I've tried all sorts of feeder combos, but boy are they persistent. :(

Nice, I'd happily have squirrels about the place if I could get shots like that. (We' do have a couple who regularly visit in fact...beautiful creatures I think.)

Only had the scope out once so far, and though I thought the conditions seemed pretty good, apparently they weren't and my images of Jupiter and then the moon were poor, so I've not done anything with them yet. Perhaps at the weekend I'll set it up in the day if the weather's nice and see if I can't shoot something small and distant.

We never had squirrels here until about 15 years or so ago - now, they're pretty much everywhere, but pleased that they haven't discovered my garden so far - even tho' they have dreys not a 100 yards away.

The weather forecast is clear sky tonight Adrena1in, so perhaps maybe in your favour?

That's my input for now - back to emulsioning walls.

Squirrels have ignored the peanuts on my bird feeder as they seem to prefer the mixed bird seed!!!

The only effective way of keeping them away is by means of 'Extreme Prejudice', in an earlier life i was a keeper on a large estate and we shot and trapped them as a matter of course - which was a strange action as they did not actually interfere with the raising of the game birds or deer!!!. However, i just let them get on with it, it seems the birds and the squirrels come at different times and as long as we keep the feeders topped up every one is happy.

We've got a bird-feeder in the middle of the lawn and I've never seen the squirrels even think about trying to access it. They get plenty of easy-to-reach nuts and things from the garden next door. (Then my other half complains because the squirrels bury the nuts in our flower beds and plant pots and things, scattering earth everywhere. But I like them. The dog doesn't! ;)

Just got back from Winchester where I went for the prize presentation of winning a category of the Hampshire Wildlife Trust photo competition. I now have to find some wall space for the canvas print that I received. I bet the missus moans about dusting it

Finally processed my shots on the 20D from the Hawk Concervancy Trust near Andover, been meaning to go there for ages, well worth a visit.

Hoping to go back with my shiny new 7D weather, work and family commitments permitting.

These are about my first BIF shots, quite a good place to practice for the wild thing:

Think this one needed a higher shutter speed, very fast bird

Great shots, they both look very purposeful in those first two shots, that's a place I want to visit as well, is it open all year round?
