Nice Macro shots. Never really been my scene but do appreciate the skill that goes into it.

A few different shots from me taken over the last week or so.

Bored last night so decided to have a go at removing the odd looking branch that Ken pointed out was a distraction in my Bluetit shot a couple of weeks ago.

Does it work?

Cheers Cogs.....

I wish that WAS my garden to mow. It's actually a tiny part of a working farm that I have the privilege to have permission to walk my dogs on. I was sat in the field waiting for the male Buzzard to make his way back to the nest where the female is in the nest (I presume she is tending eggs). It was just a quick grab shot as Bisto had settled down in the grass for once and was far enough away from me to allow me to focus with the 70-200. Here's another one taken a few minutes before.

The Buzzards nest is sort of above his right shoulder in this shot.

I know the image quality is not at all good...that's what comes of relying on my Blackberry while riding out on the bike, but it isn't too easy taking the 7D on the bike. cramp kicked in, big time, without the extra weight :)

Oil seed rape - all too familiar but a sign that spring has arrived, late. And, for me, a major contributor to my hay fever.

'Delightful' views across to Basingstoke in the distance.

I had a busy old day yesterday; band practice with the brass band in the morning, a visit to Exbury gardens in the afternoon, and then capturing the planetary conjunction in the evening.

It's a fantastic time to visit Exbury, with all the rhododendrons in full bloom. Here are some of my best of the day.

IMAGE: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i192/garlicpickle/Canon/lr1small-3126_zps3eb9f2f3.jpg

IMAGE: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i192/garlicpickle/Canon/lr1small-3116_zps6158aafa.jpg

IMAGE: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i192/garlicpickle/Canon/lr1small-3083_zpsd7e27a70.jpg

And for this last one I used a table-top tripod and set the ISO to 50 and the aperture to f/32 to draw out a 1-sec exposure, to smooth the water. You can see movement in the trees too.

IMAGE: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i192/garlicpickle/Canon/lr1small-3110_zps9d8ecc55.jpg

For the planets I tried several combinations of exposure as the sky darkened. Here are the best.

First was 0.5s, f/7.1, ISO 200, at 235mm on the 100-400, using the 5DII.

IMAGE: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i192/garlicpickle/Canon/lr1small-3178_zps62c6b738.jpg

And finally, zoomed all the way to 400mm to show just the three planets in their tightest configuration. Apparently we have to wait until 2026 for an equally tight alignment of three planets.

Cracking shots of Exbury, haven't been there for a good few years, though the Azalea (I think that's how it's spelt, wifes dept.) that we bought from there is looking great in the garden.

On & off here with connection probs which I hope to be sorted by Monday (seeing as I have to take a day off for when / if they turn up).

Great Exbury shots Mark - haven't been there for at least 20 odd years.

I see tomorrow that HMS Collingwood is having an open day - hence the Matrix warnings on the M27 of "Major event Jun 1st" - I'm doing a wedding shoot for a friend at Fareham and when I first saw that made me wonder just how many people had been invited!!

Like the still reflection boat shot Cogs

I'm off to my next door neighbours wedding tomorrow, went over to Farlington today the first time for ages. Shot my first Linnet, never seen these before, pretty hefty crops.
