Spent some time watching the Peregrines yesterday, difficult to shoot the nest as distances are a bit too much, so heavy use of multipliers and severe cropping, hence IQ leaves a bit to be desired.

Thanks for the info Cogs - and more nice shots from you.
I haven't been over to look for the Owls this year as the marshes got so badly flooded there, but hopefully by now they have recovered enough to take the dog back over to her favourite place.
Will (weather dependent) be heading over tomorrow, so will spend some time around "that" tree to see if any "owltivity" at all. Will let you know if they are around (hope they will, as they've been nesting there since god knows how long).

These last few days I've been shooting macro in my own garden, and I tell you there's much violence and death to be seen.

Here's a large female crab spider (Misumena vatia) with a small bee prey.

IMAGE: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i192/garlicpickle/Canon/lr1small--12_zps0aef8c9f.jpg

Then in the potentilla I found this tiny spider, Nigma puella, with a small midge. This whole scene has taken place on a single petal of one flower, so about half an inch across.

IMAGE: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i192/garlicpickle/Canon/lr1small-8480_zps5b5123f9.jpg

And a bit less often seen, the third example is a hoverfly larva making a meal of an aphid.

IMAGE: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i192/garlicpickle/Canon/lr1small--2-3_zps7a7963d7.jpg

Life's a bit gruesome when you look really close!

Mark.
