The discs or at nightime lamps were used to denote the type of train, ie passenger, slow goods etc, not sure if they have any great significance at the Watercress

This is Cheltenham pulling into the bay at Alresford

Great images but not been on for ages so probably far too many to go back on & comment.

Ken, seeing as you're a steam buff - I see the rail museum at Shildon is hosting all the remaining A4 loco's at the moment. Bit of a hike to get there I guess, but thought of you.

Hope to be able to get over to Chichester later & collect my now fixed 24 - 105, so should be back in the game soon then!

This lunchtime we went to the local arts centre to listen to a folk singer. I took a few images and was approached by a Frenchman who is due to visit the same venue in early May. He has asked me to act as "official group photographer" for the event. Its a trio, on a stage.

So I need some advice on shooting now its more serious! Today I was using my 100-400 and speedlight as it gave me more flexibility but I'm not even sure what ISO, aperture or shutter speeds I should be using. Any advise (at all) would be very much welcomed!

We also caught the arrival in Salisbury of this engine.

I didn't know "Britannia" was doing steam specials, nice shot. As regards shooting the Trio, a lot depends on ambient lighting as using a flash may not have enough spread for the whole group. Probably ok for individual shots. Have you got a fast lens f2.8 or better?

Also a heads up the BTCC have their media day at Donnington on Tuesday, free for fans after 12:30, I hope to be going with some friends from church, weather is looking reasonable as well, it was absolutely freezing last year!

They don't look too bad to me Colin, I think that's a cracking Buzzard shot.

Curious how things happen. I was "practising" yesterday and Paddy Benedict was playing. He saw me at the interval and wanted some images making the most of the church window behind the stage.

Here's one of the first I've processed. Very grainy due to the extreme ISO I was using.

Looks as though the white balance is a bit warm, do you shoot RAW if so you could change it.

You say "practising", do you play guitar then?

Ken,

The overwarm balance was due to some very bright red spotlights, but yes I could tone it down a bit! I only ever shoot RAW, changing it as required.

No, I only meant practising for my May event.

Another shot. I've tried to cool down the colour temperature, but the stage lighting is defeating me.

Just been getting my gear ready for the trip to Donnington tomorrow morning, unfortunately the weather isn't looking to be as good as it has been recently :-(
