Hi Colin. I looked at the Flickr Farlington thread and saw a couple of my shots already there.
I will add a few more soon.

Most impressed by the standard on here, though.:-)

Nice set of shots Becky, I just never seem to get time to get out and shoot these days.

Likewise Ken - Just don't seem to get the opportunity.

Congratulations, couple of great shots. I never thought to photograph my visitors, I just sat counting whilst I had my lunch.

Looking for some advice!

I've borrowed a Canon 2X 111 EF Extender from my local camera shop but they kept the paper sheet of instructions.

I find that it will not auto-focus with my 100-400L lens on a 5D2, unlike my 1.4x which will happily AF on the same lens all day long. Is this because of something I'm doing wrong, or something I must live with?

Any response needs to be today, because I have promised to return it tomorrow (Saturday) and I need to have uploaded my images onto the PC and made a decision, which hopefully I can do tonight.

Any information gratefully received.

Richard, there is two stops light loss, so I think you will be at f11 if the wide open is f5.6 @ 400, not sure what the shorter end is on the 100-400. I am surprised the 5D2 is ok with the 1.4X, I thought that was limited to f5.6 and only the 5D3 and 7D2 had a centre f8 point. (of course the 1D series always have except briefly the 1Dx which was fixed with an upgrade).

Lester,

Many thanks for the prompt response.

So I will need to live with it if I understand you correctly?

I've done some comparison shots with both converters and am presently printing the results to study. The 800mm (2x) is clearer than the 560mm shot I've chosen. I've tried to exclude outside errors so both shots are tripod mounted and both have been cropped.

Again, I'm very grateful for your input.

Richard
