I got two lenspens from an auction on ebay here (external link). As you can see, it is english on the front, but on the back it is entirely in chinese except for just a few things. On the pen itself, it says Lenspen on the clip, but also has http://www.schmidtmarketing.com/ (external link) printed on the side as well. I just want to make sure this thing is safe to use before I go wiping it on my new lens. Have any of you all gotten "off brand" lenspens? Are they safe to use?

Let's see. You're dealing with the central feature of a multi-thousand dollar piece of equipment, and you want to touch it with what may be a knock-off pen that you picked up on the cheap at eBay.

I wouldn't do it on a bet. Get lens caps and stuff like that on that internet flea market, not lens pens.

Yeah...they're the same price from a dealer where you know you're not getting a knock off at least.

I bought a lens pen from a local camera shop under the promaster label. On the package it said "original lenspen" with what looked like a Canadian mapleleaf emblem on it. They told me it is the real lenspen. Is it the real deal?

If you have gone to the Lenspen website, Schmidtmarketing is the distributor for a big part of the Far East, so I'd put a wager that what you got was just an imported one.

All the lenspen we get over here in Malaysia and Singapore has schmidtmarketing stamped on the side and the back is all in Chinese

My lenspen has the name on the top of the cap, but the "E" in pen is a regular E not like the trade mark E they have.
