Another couple of bird shots...
Any cc would be welcomed. I have slowly been trying to take all the tips and techniques from everyone and put them into practice.
Thanks!

#1 has some nice qualities: good lighting (though a bit too warm), DOF & Focus are spot on (though needs some sharpening to realise it). Pose is 8/10 and exposure just about perfect. wayne eddy

In the first one, the bird blends so well with the tree that the distinction is threatened, especially as the light was close to being behind the camera and hence looks a bit flat across the bird... particularly disturbing near the beak. Not sure it's a good idea, but for comparison, here's a version with a little rough burning along the right edge, and some unsharp mask... The second shot's very nice. Exposure's well done: nice to see both the snow and dark feathers and tree trunk showing reasonable detail. I'm not a huge fan of the strip of light beside the tree at right... can lead the eye out. I sometimes clone the tree to cover these things... but neither way's perfect. Very shallow DOF for f/9 isn't it? But 300mm on a crop body adds up to a lot of reach.... Cheers, Tony 5D and too much glass. Mamiya 645E.
