Thanks Gail, it was a lucky shot, he landed on top of the wooden fence about 5 feet from me and just stood there for a few seconds. The blue in the background is our service door on our garage (not sky). We've got a bunch of 'em here now too, these White-Throated Sparrows and the White-Crowned Sparrows too. They stay for a couple weeks then move on. They let us know when it's time to cut the grass because we can't see the little white "racing stripes" running around in the lawn when it's too tall:D
