Yep, sure is. It's the world famous Gastown steam clock...:-)

Interesting. I have never heard of a "steam" clock before!!

I did look it up. It only gives a puff of steam "on the hour"?

Interesting gear work! What is this for? Does this only power the clock shown?

From a webpage that I found "Every quarter-hour, the two-ton Steam Clock shows off a bit, whistling and shooting steam from its five whistles in its version of the Westminster Chime. On the hour it marks each hour with a toot from each whistle."

I think that that statement is accurate as I think about it. On the hour is a longer, more fulsome display of steam and a longer, more "musical" sounding of the horns.

And it gets better!! It also whistles!! Very Cool!!

Thank you for telling me this!! I looked it up on Youtube (external link)

Did the website you found tell more about this fantastic clock or have video of the quarter hour whistles???

The youtube I posted does show the hour whistle at 2:00 which appears to "whistle" the hour at the end.

This video (external link) shows a different clock (I guess it is a different clock) whistling at 9:00AM then also at 10:00PM

This is the clock on a church steeple on the Madison, NH Baptist church, circa 1781.

The bell was updated to an automated one in 1888. I was granted acess to the church, clock room and steeple/belfrey.

What a privilege you were given especially to enter the steeple/belfry!

What automation was done back in 1888 do you know?

Thank you very much for that!! At the 45 minute time it beeped 10 short bursts at the end. Do you know how many short bursts it gives off at 15 minutes and 30 minutes? You do not have to find a video for those....

Again I do THANK YOU!!

No problem Inspeqtor, maybe someday when the weather if better I'll sit in the cafe across from it and record the quarter, half and hourly toots. It might make for an interesting project paired with photos.

Thanks for the interest and the conversation. I enjoyed your enthusiasm!

What? You do not want to do this in this very cold blast of winter we are having right now????

Just kidding of course! You do not need to do that for me, do it only if YOU want to do it for yourself. I do appreciate your offering to do it though!

Before the mechanism was powered by electricity, it was powered by weights and springs, much like a cuckoo clock. Sadly, these are no longer there.
