Last weekend I visited one of my regular spots and saw a new group of 50, or even more, ducks. They were new for me and also new to the surroundings. Their behavior was also fascinating. If one saw a danger and turned around - whole group turned and swam away. Every couple minutes they were diving and for couple of seconds whole group was gone under the water :)

I'm asking for identifying these blue beak ducks...

I use the National Audubon Society Field Guide to Birds Eastern Region (external link) and usually get pretty good results from checking the photo section. The photo of the ruddy duck in the book would have helped ID these very quickly.

Yes, I know that I should get the guide but every time I'm at the bookstore I can't decide which one to pick... :)
I was looking online though with no luck but knew that here I would get correct answer quickly ;)
Anyway I wanted also to share these pictures...
