2 Reasons:

1: The G9 had some features that were changed in the G10, and some people prefer the G9.

2: Amazon is THE place for retailers to sell older model electronics at an inflated price. Amazon will never sell cameras drastically above the MSRP, but third party sellers will.

I loved the G9, but I don't think it is worth paying more for than the G10.

Anything is better than bank stock. We lost ours with Bank of America.

I saw something similar on Amazon for my SD550. Paid $450 and it appreciated! Sweet!

I doubt anyone will pay that much for a G9 though.

My G10 was good. My XS is better and here is my flickr (external link).

Sure, it's like resale house prices, or prices on out-of-print books from Abebooks, or whatever.

Third-party sellers can ask whatever price they want for the G9. Doesn't mean anybody's paying it. I'm sure you can still find it for less than that.

I've had a G7, G9, and G10. I can't see why the G9 would sell for so much more. They are all fine cameras, but I find the G10 a better camera than the G7 and G9.

What does the G9 have that gets some people to pay nearly twice the G10 price?
