Yep, the first shot is a bee-fly, they are gorgeous looking insects - you did well to get one hovering.

The snail shot has a good composition but the lighting needs improving on. You could adjust this to make it look an awful lot better in your post processing software. Depending on which software you use, just go to adjust image, adjust lighting, shadows and highlights - or even brightness/contrast will work, and lighten it up a bit, it will make a world of difference to the shot.
