Within Canon's DPP, there are two options for adjusting sharpness within the tools palette. One is on the first "RAW" tab, and I'm assuming it is the same as the in camera sharpness option inside picture styles. The other sharpness slider is on the RGB tab and paired with the hue and saturation sliders. What is the difference between the two different sharpness adjustments and how they work?

I view the one in the raw tab an "input sharpening." This is basically overcoming the softness that the cameras anti-alias filter creates. I only sharpen using this so that the picture looks "acceptable and clear." Usually this is between 2-5, (most of the time on 3).

The sharpening in the other tab, provides you with more control (zero to 500 increments), and I use this as "output sharpening." Apply this last, after make other color/curve adjustments, etc. You may want to apply more if you are printing, vs downsizing for web viewing, etc.

As far as I know: Nothing. Only the "numbers" are different. The effect is the same and additive.

According to Canon support, yes. That's why Rene's answer is correct. For jpeg shooters, it's the sharpen option. For RAW shooters (because the raw tab is enabled) the two options are redundant. I personally never sharpen in DPP. I click it down then use specialized sharpening tools such as NIK or TLR in PS. But then my workflow does not have the demands of high production shooters, either.
