Easter Pictures - Feedback Appreciated

Some pictures from the Easter weekend of my nieces. Please provide feedback as I am learning and would like to know what I am doing wrong and how I can improve. I am using a canon 300D

Nice clear quality pictures - good job. Just curious on what gear you are using.


Canon 5D MArk II, Canon XTI, Canon G10
24-105mm L, 70-200mm L f/2.8, 100mm f/2.8 Macro, 17-40mm f/4

I am using a Canon 300D with EF-S 18-55mm with Hoya UV filter (shot2) and Canon EF 55-200mm Ultrasonic with UV filter (shots 1 and 3)

I don't see anything wrong with these photo's technically... the exposure is good. Even the hats on their faces are well exposed. Good focus and sharp.

If you're looking for advice...composition may be a problem in these shots.

#1 - nothing more than a snapshot and a little too tight. Back out and get more background in to tell a story.

#2 - my favourite of the three. The girls are in an interesting arrangement... but again, more of a snapshot. I'd maybe crop in a little closer for a head and shoulder shot or back out.

#3 - place her off center (to the left) and this will instantly add more interest to the photo.
